It’s difficult not to be a fan of Sam Elliot’s voice. The new ad for Joe Biden features that deep velvety sound and Americans love it. reports

The Elliott video premiered Tuesday during the first game of the Major League Baseball World Series. Over a piano soundtrack of the “Star Spangled Banner,” the actor known for “A Star is Born,” “The Big Lebowski” and “Road House” tells viewers that there is no one America.

“No Democratic rivers, no Republican mountains, just this great land and all that’s possible on it with a fresh start,” the actor says. “Cures we can find, futures we can shape, work to reward, dignity to protect.”

There’s a lot to be said about the next few weeks. As I write the United States of America is heading into a bottleneck of history. Two powers are colliding. One side stands toxic capitalism and Christian theocracy. The other side is what’s left of our democratic institutions and hope. Right now polls are looking favorably for the latter, and we all know what that means, don’t we?

Complacency is the enemy.

Complacency about voting right here and now is dangerous, but what poses just as big a problem is the probability that those on the left will go back to our lives thinking we won the war against fascism if Biden wins the election. Nothing can be farther than the truth.

The cultural and economic forces which made Donald Trump President will still be here if he loses. Wealth disparity isn’t going to go away unless we pressure politicians. The ongoing environmental disaster needs to be addressed. Christian fascists will still be plotting to undermine the republic.

And there’s the very real chance Trump will run in 2024.

If Biden becomes President Biden be ready to continue the work.
