Reading Time: 2 minutes

I’ve been away from the blog for a while. Apologies for the unannounced absence.

I didn’t fall off the edge of the flat earth or anything like that. I took what I intended to be a short hiatus in October, which ended up lasting longer than I planned. There’s a story behind that, which I hope to share one day.

In my last post, I alluded to some changes that were coming. Those are still brewing, but it’s taking a little bit longer than I anticipated. Rest assured, I’ll have more to say on that soon.

In the meantime, let’s catch up. Here’s what I’ve been up to and what I’ve been reading:

• On my personal Patreon, I’ve continued to publish my hopepunk novel Commonwealth. These past two months, we’ve gotten further into Part III, where the utopian state called the Pacific Republic launches its daring plan to save the world.

• Everyone in my family is fully vaccinated! My son, who turned 5 this year, got his second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and I got a booster dose of Moderna. The only side effects I experienced were a sore spot on my arm and a noticeable lack of dying from COVID-19.

• On that note, the anti-vax Christian right looks more and more like a death cult every day. Here’s one of them explaining why Christians should view dying as a good thing.

• And here are two more who died proximately from COVID-19, but ultimately from believing their own disinformation: evangelical author and flat-earth believer Rob Skiba and televangelist Marcus Lamb.

• Baptist News publishes a brutally honest look at why the Christian church is dwindling.

• And Valerie Tarico has an attention-grabbing headline, but she puts in the work to justify it: Why I’m No Longer Worried about Losing Roe.

Let’s have an open thread. How have you been faring?
