If you come from the world of fundamentalist Christianity, then you’re probably familiar with Michael and Debi Pearl and their infamous guide to faith-based abuse called To Train Up a Child. It’s a book that tells you how to properly hit your kids.

It’s as awful as it sounds. After all, this is the book that recommends Christian parents physically discipline kids as young as six months with “the same principles the Amish use to train their stubborn mules.”

YouTuber Rachel Oates isn’t a parent, but she knows this book is full of dangerous advice. She read through it (bless her heart) and offers this review. It’s in two parts because that’s how much damage it causes.

Needless to say, if you believe hitting your kids is the best way to discipline them, it means you’re a bad parent.
