This is just one problem with being raised in religion: You assume the things God “says” to you — really, just the voices in your head — are going to come true in the future, and you base your life around it.

God told me that the man I will one day marry will be blind. Now I consider for each person I date, how much blindness would ruin his future plans.

It’s an unnecessary worry brought on by a prediction that’s no more accurate than a fortune teller in the mall. People on dates have enough to think about. God’s wrath shouldn’t be one of them.
