Conservative activist and former state legislator Gordon Klingenschmitt said on his “Pray In Jesus Name” program on Tuesday that the repeal of Net Neutrality rules by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has made everyone’s internet faster.
21% faster, to be exact. For everybody.
How does he know this? Who knows.
It is true? No.
Is he aware that nothing he said was accurate? Not a chance.
… Since President Trump appointed [new people to the FCC] and then reversed net neutrality, everyone’s internet speed has gone up 21%. So it’s better to have it in the hands of private corporations than it is in the hands of the government.
His guest Matt Barber agreed without questioning the bizarre claim. (Surprise.)
Before his comments, by the way, Klingenschmitt claimed Obama-era net neutrality rules slowed speeds for certain websites like his own. That’s literally the opposite of what happened. That’s what net neutrality was designed to prevent. And now, with its repeal, his fictional persecution scenario has actually become more plausible.
Leave it to conservative Christians to condemn Democrats for doing things that are meant to help them.
