It’s bad enough when Christians attempt to remake pop culture in a more religious mold, but I’ve never seen anything as trippy as this Jesus-infused version of The Wizard of Oz.

The ironic thing is that the original film’s big reveal is that there’s a man behind the curtain. He’s the one who knows it’s all a con, who inspires fear, and who uses that knowledge to his advantage.

That’s how religion works, too. As the old joke goes: In a cult, there’s a guy at the top who knows it’s a scam; in a religion, that guy’s dead.

I’m guessing all of that went completely over the heads of the Christians who made this version of the film.
