The latest state to join in Project Blitz and push God into the public schools?
Kentucky.
Evangelist Brandon Reed, who serves in the State House, just prefiled BR 159, which would require public schools to display “In God We Trust” in a “prominent location.”
Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, local boards shall require each public elementary and secondary school to display the national motto of the United States, “In God We Trust,” in a prominent location in the school.
The display required in paragraph (a) of this subsection may take the form of, but is not limited to, a mounted plaque or student artwork.
For purposes of this section, “prominent location” means a school entryway cafeteria, or common area where students are likely to see the national motto.
Reed didn’t even bother saying this was a patriotic gesture. For him, this is all about God.
There is no reason for us to be ashamed of our national motto; it is a vital part of our culture. We are one nation under God, and that reality should be reflected in public life, including in the buildings where our children are being educated.
It was only a week ago when the Freedom From Religion Foundation released a graphic showing the states that had passed this exact legislation.
It may have to be updated again very soon.
