According to a court filing that’s now public, a man made a bomb threat last summer against the Creation Museum.

On June 16, 2020, Brian William Delafayette sent an anonymous message through the Creation Museum’s website saying, “There is a bomb underneath the Alliousaurus [sic] exhibit it will go off at 12 noon today HAIL SATAN!!!! !!””

He was lying. But that message was (and should be) taken seriously. Not only was that a threat against people’s lives, it was a threat against the property itself. Both are illegal.

Last week, a grand jury indicted Delafayette for making that threat while knowing it was a lie. He now faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.

Thank goodness he was making it all up and no one was injured. No one, not even the Creationists at Answers in Genesis, deserve this. If you have a problem with them and want to take them down, just do what the rest of us do and quote them accurately.

It’s not clear what Delafayette’s motive was.
