Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), a man who was elected by human beings to represent them in Congress and have incredible political power, says that men who got molested as kids “universally… ended up feeling that they were gay.”

He made the comments when guest-hosting a radio show called “Point of View”:
“As a judge handling thousands of felony cases here in Texas, it seemed interesting to me that so often when it was a case of an adult man being charged with molesting a young boy, that the boys just seemed like, universally, they ended up feeling that they were gay,” he said. “And I was a bit perplexed by that, that gee, a kid would be molested and he goes on to think he’s gay the rest of his life when it seems like maybe that was not necessarily the road he was going down until the adult molester stepped in.”
Dr. Gohmert has finally found the cure for gay: Prevent kids from getting molested!… even though some kids who don’t get molested turn out to be gay, and even though some straight people were abused as children.
It’s almost like a traumatic experience and your sexual orientation have nothing to do with each other.
But let’s follow Gohmert’s logic for a moment. If gay people really are victims of child molestation, then that means the Republican Party, which continues to fight against LGBT equality, is really opposing legislation designed to help abuse victims.
In case you needed another reason to despise Gohmert and everything he stands for.
