On yesterday’s episode of The Jim Bakker Show, Jim’s wife Lori Bakker said that Christians everywhere had to support Donald Trump and Mike Pence because if liberals take over the government again, we’ll put Christians in insane asylums.

She was referring to an incident in which former Trump administration official Omarosa Manigault claimed Pence was “extreme” because he “thinks Jesus tells him to say things.” The View‘s Joy Behar later joked about Pence’s mental health, saying, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you.”

“If the world is thinking that we’re all mentally ill, do you know what’s going to happen next?” [Lori] Bakker asked. “They are going to put us all away in mental illness centers.”

“You know what they used to do with women that went through menopause back years ago?” she continued. “They put them in insane asylums because their hormonal balance was completely off. I’m not kidding, that is what they did. And I’m not kidding, that is what is going to happen to us as Christians. They are going to lock us up and throw us out if we don’t stand up.

“It’s in the Bible,” agreed Jim.

After the Bakkers finished talking about how Christians would be locked up in mental institutions even though there’s nothing crazy about them, I assume they went back to selling giant buckets of food to believers who think the world is about to end. Because that’s normal.

By the way, I find it hard to believe that a President Hillary Clinton (a Methodist) with her former-missionary running mate Tim Kaine were going to lock up all the Christians, just as it’s unlikely future Democratic candidates would do anything of the sort. You would think after eight years of the Religious Right saying the same things about Barack Obama, they’d realize that they’re overreacting to how much the Left “hates” religion. How do they still not understand that liberals want religious equality, not atheist dominance?

But thinking has never been their strong suit, has it?
