Last week, we posted about how preacher Jesse Duplantis was asking donors to help pay for his brand new $54 million private jet.
Mind you he already had a jet — this would be his fourth — but the one in his possession right now requires refueling stops during long trips. The new jet would allow him to travel directly between cities. (For Jesus.)

Duplantis has been roundly mocked online over this, though that doesn’t mean it’ll dissuade his gullible followers from giving him the cash he wants. Still, there’s nothing wrong with pointing out the blatant greed associated with those pushing the prosperity gospel.
I especially liked this segment from The Daily Show‘s Ronny Chieng:

Responding to Duplantis’ line about how “I really believe that if Jesus was physically on the earth today, he wouldn’t be riding a donkey,” Chieng joked:
The donkey was the symbol of Jesus’ humility. It was the Toyota Camry of its time. And even if Jesus wouldn’t be riding a donkey, you have to jump straight to private jet?!
The gap between donkey and private jet is all of transportation!
I bet Jesus would be fine taking an Uber…
Duplantis, of course, doesn’t give a damn what Jesus said or did. He’s just happy invoking the name of Jesus to get whatever he wants.
