Reading Time: 2 minutes

I’ve been blogging daily at Patheos for a little over a decade at this point, and that’s on top of another five years doing it on my own.

It’s probably time for a change of scenery.

Patheos and I will be parting ways on December 14 — it’s mutual and there’s no bad blood, I promise — and I’ll be heading to a new platform in January. I’ll continue posting here until that date, and then, during the brief hiatus, I’ll post primarily on my Substack and Twitter.

While I can’t tell you everything about the new platform just yet, it’ll involve me writing about religion and religion-adjacent topics like I always have, but I’ll also be able to pursue other projects. There will be other writers there I know you’ll appreciate, editors to help our posts connect with larger audiences, and several other digital professionals to spread the thoughts far and wide. Commenters will be welcome there, too.

If you want to know about the new project as soon as it launches, please enter your email here for more details. (That’s not the new website. It’s just a placeholder.)

My understanding is that while all my old posts will migrate to the new website, the comment threads likely won’t be coming along for technical reasons. That one’s out of my control, unfortunately. So if there’s anything you’d like to save, now’s a good time to do it.

Since I’m not exactly saying goodbye, I won’t get overly sentimental. But Patheos took a chance on me in 2011, and while its management has changed in the years since, everyone has always been wonderful about letting me post what I’ve wanted to without any unreasonable restrictions. For that, I’m truly grateful. Their platform gave me the opportunity to do this sort of writing full-time, and they extended an invitation to stay even longer. It was my choice to pursue something different.

Can’t wait for you to see it.
