The Catholic Church has taken over many hospitals in the U.S., and they’ve used that control to exert power over patients, blocking procedures that would violate Catholic doctrine. That’s bad for patients. The University of California is currently in the process of reassessing its relationships with Catholic hospitals, and that means finding a working compromise on those policies.
