Over on the piece about Roy Moore’s campaign manager making a fool of himself with regard to swearing on the Bible, “Jennny” asked the following:

Over on other P/non-religious sites, folk have suggested what books they would swear on if elected to public office. My favourite suggestion so far is the Kama Sutra and personally I can’t quite decide between The Very Hungry Caterpillar or a whole stack of Dick Bruna’s Miffy books. But that’s just my arrested development maybe!! Grandchildren would approve!

I need to think about this. But in the meantime, have at it. What book would you swear on as atheists or agnostics?

Or is, indeed, the whole notion of swearing on a book a bit defunct and impotent?
