Never have I come across a more convincing critique of the Resurrection Easter story. Pearce has produced the definitive critique of the New Testament claim. His meticulous deconstruction is unforgettable. In a word ‘stunning’!

Evangelical Faith apologists continue to believe for no challenge is allowed to debunk the faith. For them, God has spoken and that’s the end of the matter. But for those of us who are genuinely interested in whether or not this story is based on fact, this scientific study, is the only book you’ll need. I cannot recommend it enough! Highly recommended for anyone from the casual skeptic to those who find themselves in heated debates with apologists. Without a doubt, the supposed death and resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of Christianity and one of the most influential stories in human history (regardless of what position you take on its veracity). As such, it deserves a more detailed analysis than most books provide, even those authored by prominent atheists and agnostics such as Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens, Dennett, Barker, etc. I would recommend “The Resurrection”, alongside the works of Dr. Richard Carrier (who is cited frequently in it), as synergistic powerhouse tools in the arsenal of the counter-apologist and as compelling and thought-provoking texts for the less militant skeptic, agnostic, or fan of critical history.
