I actually didn’t catch this myself, because I avoid Iranian State TV like plague, and I avoid it during Ramadan like the Black Death of 1348. I don’t remember the last time it was on and was showing it anything other than presidential election debates or football which my father watches. However, Iranian TV and cinema are very VERY notorious for plagiarizing foreign media, and Modern Family is just the latest victim. Via Times:

Fans of the ABC series Modern Family may never have laid eyes on the Iranian TV series Haft Sang [Seven stones] — but they’ve seen it, nonetheless.

Haft Sang is a near-perfect recreation of Modern Family, shot frame for frame with the same stage directions, props and sight gags. But one thing is missing from the show in the conservative Islamic Republic: there’s not a glimpse of any gay characters like Mitch and Cam from Modern Family.
