The online magazine that brought you advice on how to defeat a demonic squid also has great advice on how to control your sexual urges. Or, as writer Doug Weiss calls them, “the Jezebel spirit clouding your mind with lust.”
His suggestion? Snap yourself with a rubber band. (Seriously.)

You can start by placing a rubber band on your wrist. Every time you lust after a person, snap the rubber band (you can also quote appropriate Scripture if you like). In about 30 days, you will actually retrain your brain to shut down lust. If you lust while watching pornography, you have neurologically imprinted sexual acts hundreds or thousands of times in your mind through fantasy, and you have sinned against your own body (see 1 Cor. 6:18). The rubber-band exercise will help you fight the urge at every point.
When you’re already going to extremes with rubber bands, why stop at the wrist…?
There are at least two problems with Weiss’ “advice.” (Okay, there are way more than that, but let’s start with two.) First, by doing this, you’re essentially teaching your brain and body to shut down in response to sexual arousal. It’s not like this problem will suddenly resolve itself once you get married. Many survivors of purity culture can testify to not being able to enjoy sex with their spouses after many years of punishing themselves for having a sex drive while single.
On the flip side, following this advice could also train your brain to associate pleasure with pain. A lot of people may be into that, but it’s probably not Weiss’ intended goal.
