It’s one thing to dislike presidential candidates. It’s quite another to deny their humanity altogether.
But that’s par for the course for right-wing activist Dave Daubenmire, a man known as much for his cruelty as much as his far-right beliefs.
As a guest on conspiracy theorist Sheila Zilinsky‘s podcast yesterday, he said that he Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden isn’t even a real human being:
“It’s like he’s not even a human being,” Daubenmire said. “It’s like there’s nothing inside there.”
“You look deeply into the eyes of Joe last night, and, boy, I just [don’t know],” he added. “One of the listeners to my own show said today — and Sheila, you can go back and look at this — there’s no aura around Joe Biden. He’s just kind of there, you know? So, you have to ask yourself what or who is speaking through that guy? Because he’s there, he’s looking in the camera, he’s saying stuff, but he’s basically emotionless. There’s something supernatural, Sheila, that’s happening in the governmental realm that I don’t think the average person — certainly even the average Christian — has any concept of what it is.”
First of all, anyone would look dead in the eyes if they had to debate Donald Trump. But more to the point, when Biden’s most appealing quality is his empathy, and Trump has nothing in the way of heart or policy to counter it, this is what desperation looks like. Daubenmire uses supernatural reasoning to insist as fact that Biden has no soul and therefore no humanity.
That says far more about Daubenmire’s character than Biden’s.
