A tiny course in miracles

Reading Time: 2 minutes If you believe one miracle, you have accepted the premise and have no excuse for not believing all miracles. But let’s get a few things straight right off the bat. A miracle is a supernatural interruption of the natural course of things that cannot be explained by natural causes. All religions, except highly rational versions […]

Grading Evangelists’ Evidence (With Jessica Walter GIFs)

Reading Time: 9 minutes Hi and welcome back! The never-ending fever-dream of 2021 continues apace. This past week, the world lost a comic genius when Jessica Walter passed away at 80 years of age. The Thai Cave Rescue Is Inspirational Precisely Because It’s NOT Miraculous

Reading Time: 11 minutes A dramatic rescue unfolded in Thailand this past month. Now, with its successful conclusion, people begin to bandy about words like miracle to describe what happened. Because I’m very helpful that way, I want to gently point out that the rescue is indeed very inspirational. It shines as a testament to human ingenuity, bravery, and resolve. But it is not a miracle, for those exact reasons.

Lydia McGrew’s Argument from Miracles, and How It Fails

Reading Time: 10 minutes I recently ran across an essay by Lydia McGrew. She claims to be making a no-fail argument for Christianity’s validity. As we’ll see shortly, however, it is neither unique nor successful. Today I’ll show you her weird take on the logical fallacy called the Argument from Miracles, and also how it fails on an almost comical scale.
