Reading Time: 7 minutes Hi and welcome back! As you likely know, Christians these days are quite distressed over how quickly teens and young adults are leaving the faith. One guy’s written what he claims will absolutely help parents keep their kids Christian for life. It amounts to instructions for the deliberate construction of a faith pool in a child’s mind. […]
Reading Time: 8 minutes In the April issue of Christianity Today (CT), their cover story involved the most hilarious bait-and-switch attempt I think I’ve ever seen from any Christian site, like seriously ever. In this story, CT tried to pretend that there’s some big groundswell of single evangelical women (and some men) who are adopting children rather than waiting for marriage and procreation. Today, let’s look at this story they ran — and the real one they absolutely, positively did not want to discuss — about evangelical single moms.
Reading Time: 10 minutes In the wake of the pandemic, many countries are experiencing a drop in their birthrate. That won’t be surprising or big news to most of us. Nor would most of us be surprised to learn that American evangelicals themselves aren’t immune to the social forces that influence everyone else’s family planning decisions. But evangelical leaders are certainly upset about all of this. They’re trying to blame the decreasing birthrate on sin and evil ickie straw feminism, instead of taking responsibility for what’s probably actually happening. Today, let me show you the story itself — and then show you how evangelicals are freaking out about it for all the wrong reasons.
Reading Time: 7 minutes Yes, Christians. The shameless hucksters whose livelihoods are directly tied to your contributions would really like you to step up your Jesus-ing. They’ve decided to threaten your kids with eternal physical torture in an imaginary realm if you don’t comply with their demands.
Reading Time: 10 minutes Today, let me show you some stuff from evangelicals that indicates that they’re still panicking about their utter inability to recruit and keep young adults as members, but not enough to do anything meaningful about it yet.
Reading Time: 10 minutes In this installment, we witness an extended exposition dump in two scenes. Today, Lord Snow Presides over Frank Peretti’s total lack of understanding of journalism.
Reading Time: 10 minutes In today’s installment, a young man shows up and talks like a kidnapper to Sandy Hogan’s devastated parents, and they do not immediately take him prisoner and start removing bits of him till he tells them where their daughter is. Today, Lord Snow Presides over the misogynistic projection in This Present Darkness.
Reading Time: 8 minutes We meet an honest-to-goodness demon, learn about the dangers of higher education, see fundagelical parenting in action, and encounter another weirdly-persuasive evil character. Today, Lord Snow Presides over a crash course in more right-wing Christian prejudices in This Present Darkness.
Reading Time: 8 minutes As Christianity continues to hemorrhage members, Christian leaders have swung into action with solutions. These solutions illustrate Christians’ dilemma like nothing else ever could. Today, Lord Snow Presides over the Christian solutions that really aren’t solutions at all.
Reading Time: 10 minutes It’s a chilling look at how young children are preyed upon and brainwashed by the adults they trust. Eleven years later, the children featured in Jesus Camp are a striking sign of Christianity’s future. We’ll meet some of them today–and talk about the flaw in Christian thinking that led to their involvement with the camp in the documentary.
