We know that Creationist Ken Ham‘s Answers in Genesis is currently suing the state of Kentucky because he wrongly thinks his for-profit company can limit its hiring to Christians only. Earlier this year, he even posted a video that featured a lawyer defending his right to discriminate:
That lawyer is Mike Johnson, who also happens to serve in the Louisiana House of Representatives.
And that same Mike Johnson is working on a bill that, similar to its predecessors in Indiana and Arkansas, would allow people to deny service to LGBT individuals on the basis of “religious freedom”:
Johnson said this measure would ensure that a business owner — a baker for example — who did not want to serve same-sex couples would not be able to get his license or incorporation approval pulled by the government for doing so. The same would apply to businesses who might anger the government by welcoming same-sex marriage.

“It sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist,” said Marjorie Esman, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union.
She couldn’t comment in detail on Johnson’s proposal because the representative had not filed draft legislation yet to examine.
It’s not surprising that Johnson wants to file this bill, but I just wish he would be more direct about how he wants Christians to have the right to discriminate against people who don’t share their beliefs. That’s all this is. It’s not like you’re going to see very many (if any) non-Christians take advantage of these opportunities.
Religious discrimination is almost entirely a Christian game these days.
