Reading Time: 2 minutes

After more than two years of sharing the perspectives of the nonreligious here at OnlySky, we’ve made the difficult decision to stop publication. The current landscape for online media, the turmoil of social media, and a difficult investment climate made it impossible to continue. We’re deeply appreciative of the time, support, and hard work of so many people who made OnlySky possible in the first place and helped bring this vision into reality.

First and foremost, we have to thank our amazing writers, editors, and creators. We had the tremendous opportunity to work with some of the greatest storytellers, journalists, and thinkers in this community. None of this would have been possible without them. We hope that you’ll continue to follow their work, and we’ll keep you updated about their next projects.

Second, it’s difficult to fully express our gratitude to the thousands of people who have financially supported OnlySky over the past two years. Big and small, your membership and investment in this work helped us do something that no one had tried before: exploring the whole human experience from the secular perspective. Our community’s voices were—and unfortunately still are—deeply underrepresented in mainstream media and journalism. Thank you to everyone who helped amplify our stories.

Lastly, we want to thank the people who spent countless hours working behind the scenes to make OnlySky a reality. From just a wild thought in the mind of our founder Shawn Hardin, to an ambitious vision, and then to a fully realized platform, there are too many people who did far too much for us to ever adequately thank.

What’s next? Our parent organization over the last year, American Atheists, is going to continue working to elevate the perspectives of atheists, humanists, and other nonreligious people in the discourse. And we’re going to work with our writers and creators so that their work at OnlySky has a home moving forward. We’re still ironing out the details, but don’t worry, we’ll update you as we finalize next steps.

In the meantime, please read the final posts from our team and keep a lookout for a follow-up in the coming weeks with information about where to find their writing in the future.

We’re so grateful we had the opportunity to share this journey with all of you. Thank you for all you did to help us try something new.
